Actor. Comedian. Author. Philanthropist. All-around good guy: Meet Keedar Whittle. His talents can be seen across TV screens, stand up comedy stages, and soon to be in a new book, nationwide. According to Keedar, “the key to a successful life is more than simply accepting that you won’t win every battle.” This mentality has recently catapulted him into the winner’s circle, making a mark in the entertainment industry.
With a new role on VH1’s much anticipated second season of Single Ladies, the network’s sketch comedy show Stevie TV, and AMC’s hit show The Walking Dead, Keedar continues to showcase his multi-faceted talents on the small screen. His performance as recurring guest star “Nino Jones” on CW’s One Tree Hill, set Keedar apart as more than just a funnyman, but a serious actor. His portrayal of the conceited, yet sensitive and talented basketball star, garnered worldwide attention. But it was Keedar’s outstanding performance as a multi-talented personality on BET’s groundbreaking #1 hit comedy series Hell Date, that earned him global recognition, establishing Keedar Whittle as a household name and recognizable face.
Riding the wave of Hell Date’s overwhelming success, Keedar created the “Funny as Hell” Comedy Tour featuring standout comedians from the comedy series. The nationwide tour combined Keedar’s love of laughter and passion for philanthropy by addressing real life issues affecting local communities such as HIV/AIDS awareness, making it more than just a comedy show, but also a learning experience. When asked about his reasons for giving back to the community, Keedar replied, “I give because it feels good, because I’ve been through so much and I know what a boost can do for a person.”
Keedar has appeared on other hit TV shows including Comedy Central’s Sarah Silverman Program, BET’s One Mic Stand, and Nickelodeon’s Supah Ninjas. In spite of his ability to emote laughter from a live audience or via the small screen, Mr. Whittle is not entirely all laughs. Having made his stage debut in G. R. Point (a gritty and timely Vietnam War drama), Keedar’s portrayal of “K.P.” earned him the famed Independent Reviewers of New England Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Small Company. Following his breakout
performance, the Atlanta, GA native followed his dreams of moving to New York to pursue acting full time and on Broadway. His training background includes studies at the famed Circle in the Square Theater.
Since his debut on Hell Date, Keedar has landed four national television commercials while establishing his presence in Hollywood with roles in independent and feature films including the 2007 football comedy The Comeback’s. Keedar regularly fulfills the numerous requests for interviews, hosting events, and has been featured in newspapers and magazines nationwide, while maintaining a loyal following on his website: www.keedarwhittle.com.
Without a doubt, Keedar Whittle is turning heads as he moves up the ranks of Hollywood, but he’s doing more than making a name for himself…he’s paving a way to return to his first love: education. Keedar plans to use his entertainment success to provide learning opportunities and build schools around the world. With his innate abilities and drive to succeed, Keedar’s dreams are now becoming a reality.
